The staff, all of whom are from the locality, have a proven track record in development and maintenance of local amenities and public spaces.
This company looks after areas of estate management, landscaping and light maintenance services. This type of enterprise has a proven success rate in other areas of the country and is one of the 22 areas identified by the European Commission for social economy development.
By providing employment, training and access to employment
opportunities, the project will have the following benefits in terms of
regeneration of the local economy.
- Providing training opportunities to local people.
- Providing direct employment to the local community.
- By developing a social economy enterprise providing landscaping and light construction / maintenance services, the project will operate for the benefit of the local community and all impacts will be directed at community benefit.

From January 1st, 2006 responsibility for the Social Economy Programme was formally transferred from the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment to the Department of Community Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs. Pobal will manage our Programme on behalf of the Department of Community Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs.
The name of the programme has changed to a Community Services Programme.
On successful submission of a three year rolling business plan we have been granted a three year contract with Pobal as and from January 1st 2007.
